Training Series

So, you want to be a really good Bachata dancer and have no idea who we are…

Heyo - I’m Tam Pham, founder of Bachata Library.

We’ve designed a step-by-step playbook that teaches people how to level up their Sensual Bachata, fast.

We're on a mission to make Bachata Library the most effective and fun Bachata course on the internet.

There are a million dance teachers, YouTube “experts”, and Instagram influencers out there.

I bet you’re thinking, “Why should I listen to this Asian dude?”

My (somewhat depressing) Bachata journey 😅

I had zero dance experience when I started Bachata in 2019. And I thought I was doing everything “right” to improve.

  • I went to group classes every week
  • I danced at socials every month
  • I watched random YouTube/Instagram tutorials

But after 3 years, I still sucked.

I didn’t feel confident leading sensual movements. I felt no connection with my dance partners. I stopped having fun after I “ran out of moves.”

Worst of all, a teacher told me I had been doing my Bachata Basics wrong the entire time…

What the heck. 😓

I really wanted to give up. And I knew I had to make a choice.

Do I fold? Or do I all-in?

You guessed it…

I quit my job to train Bachata full-time #YOLO

I took a Bachata sabbatical to learn everything I could.

  • I moved to MĂŠxico and Spain to train with the best teachers in the world.
  • I formed small mastermind groups to intensely practice with curated partners
  • I created a detailed spreadsheet to remember every move I’ve ever learned
  • I analyzed dance videos on YouTube/Instagram frame-by-frame to reverse-engineer exactly what these professionals were doing
  • I spent thousands of dollars on private teachers, group classes, socials, workshops, and congresses.

I learned more in my 4th year than in the first three years combined.

Then in the year after that, I continued my training across Toronto, Poland, and Spain.

I returned feeling like I finally figured out all the puzzle pieces that make someone a great Bachata dancer.

However, there was one realization that made me so angry.

Why does someone need to go to such lengths to get better at Bachata?

To pay tens of thousands of dollars and invest years of your life to figure everything out on their own...

This made absolutely no sense.

My gut told me that I had to do something about this.

The Step-By-Step Playbook For Mastering Bachata That I Wish I Had Access to 6 Years Ago

I would’ve given my right nut to have a team of professional dancers teach me Sensual Bachata. (OK, not literally)

I would’ve jumped at the opportunity to:

  • Learn the proper foundations that would be the base for everything I do (It took me 3 years to realize everything I had been doing was wrong. I would be an even more amazing dancer if I knew these concepts from day one.)

  • Master ALL the key sensual body movements (Knowing these essential body movements would unlock 80% or more of all the moves out there. But I didn't know what they were when I started Sensual Bachata.)

  • Be given a step-by-step “do this, not that” guide to dancing Bachata (Having the exact action steps laid out for me would have given me a structured learning plan, instead of guessing what I should do next.)

  • Understand all the principles I didn’t know that I didn’t know (No one taught me important concepts like breath, preparation, frame, weight shift, level changes, and leading with your body. But they are all essential concepts to dancing smoothly.)

  • Join a private community of professional Bachata teachers and dedicated students (You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. So getting advice from teachers and other students outside of a formal class would have put me on the fast track to success.)

These elements would’ve saved me years of frustration of figuring everything out through trial and error.

That’s why I decided to quit my job (again) and invest my life savings to create Bachata Library.
